Contrary to popular belief, Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) when done correctly is actually a semi-permanent solution for hair loss.
While the results of SMP can last for several years, it is important to note that the pigments when used correctly in the procedure will gradually fade over time.
The longevity of your SMP depends on several factors, including needle depth, individual skin characteristics, immune system activity, sun exposure, skin care routine, and the quality of pigments used. Generally, SMP can last between 2 to 5 years before a touch-up session is needed/recommended to maintain the desired appearance.
It’s important to choose an experienced SMP artist who uses high-quality pigments and follows proper application techniques. Experience will allow them to provide you with more accurate information about the expected longevity of SMP based on your specific circumstances.
If desired, SMP can be adjusted or modified in the future to accommodate changes in hairline style, density preferences, and/or your natural aging processes. It’s recommended to consult with your SMP artist to discuss the process, the expected longevity and any potential maintenance or touch-up requirements for your individual case.
